Before answering this, first we must understand the anatomy of our hair. And why do some people have thick and strong hair, while others have thin and weak hair.
What Makes Our Hair—its Anatomy
We already know that our hair, like our nails, is made up of dead cells. That’s why we don’t feel any pain when cutting it. But what is its exact structure?
Our hair and nails are made up of robust protein cells called keratin. Keratins usually come as tightly packed together forming solid layers or blocks of protein. The hair that we see growing outside our skin is made up of keratin, also called the hair shaft. It is lifeless and dead. The hair shaft has 3 distinct layers—cuticle (the outermost layer or the skin of hair), cortex (the middle layer) and medulla (the innermost stem). The only part of hair that is touched by life is the bulb-like structure that lies at its base. We call it the hair root. The hair root is also called hair papilla.
Bhringraj oil stimulates the hair papilla to produce more keratin, turning even weak and thinning hair into long and strong locks.

Can We Grow Bhringraj Plants at Home?
Yes. Bhringraj plants can be very easily grown at home in flower pots. All you will need is a ‘terminal stem cutting’ of about 10-15 cms long from another bhringraj plant. Plant this cutting in moist earth inside the pot and keep watering it. Keep the pot in a place where it receives the morning sun. In 4-6 weeks the roots will grow, giving you your very own bhringraj plant. To this, if you try avoiding chemical fertilizers and pesticides, you would also have your very own organic bhringraj plant at home.
